Cardiff Afterlife was written as an exercise in building a setting. Along with that, I had three objectives: creating universal characters - they could be anyone, which is why they don't have names - incorporating existing poetry into prose, and using different fonts to highlight different areas of the text. The storyline was secondary to all of those goals, and I think that's apparent, but the setting came out well enough.
